The first Great Lakes Chapter Rendezvous in 1988 was at Cedar Point, Ohio. Eighteen Matthews boats and three "others" were there. Of our current members the following attended by boat: Bob and Irene Galeota, Neal Hammill, Jim and Pat Leiby, Irv and Jean Unser, Frank Verb, and Pete and Flossie Wilson. Some of the boats of our current members were there. Simon Addicott's boat, Doc's In, was there. Randy Hart's boat Mainstay was there as Unicorn. Autry's boat, Last Hurrah, was there as Downwind.

For the Reynold's family, the rendezvous dinner was a family reunion. Many of the Matthews plant workers also stopped by or attended the dinner. Talking to these workers, listening to their memories - especially about how things were made on your boat, and seeing the pride they felt for their work was awesome. It was a great beginning.

From that time we have enjoyed three dinner meetings each year with our boating friends as well as the rendezvous. Our chapter exists for fun and the sharing of information about boats and projects that keep them looking so well after so many years. Our webstie, mboaglc.com, now under the management of Fred Lemerand, connects us with owners around the word that would otherwise have no way of knowing about the MBOA.

The Matthews Boat Owners Association, to which we all belong, has kept information on the boats available to owners of these boats. Most of us have experienced the thrill of receiving our archival package. The Log and Quips keep us continually informed. The friendship with the Johnsons and their willing help with any question, their dedication to preservingarchives for the future, their writing of the Log and Quips, and their trips to many of the GLC rendezvous has made us feel like one big family.

As we meet for our twentieth rendezvous, we look back with pride and find memories.

NEW OFFICERS ELECTED

Wednesday afternoon began with a lot of people wondering about the election which was scheduled fof Friday morning. A number of members suggested an across-the-board re-election, but Commodore Joe Tringali kept stumping for the move-up-though-the chairs scenario which he said had been drilled into him by Power Squadron. In the end, a consensus was reached and the following slate unanimously elected"
